Back (In Blue)

After a reshuffle of group projects, it turns out I can do this as a 4th Year project! As it'll be freelance, I won't be able to finish the entire thing, but I plan on having 2 sections animated to the best level I can. Ideally, I'll have From the beginning to him dropping the bag, then from him cutting his hand to the end. Good to be able to do this, so hopefully more updates soon!
Slightly different now to cut it down, but here's a new animatic going to alter the walk towards the boat, so there should be a modified animatic soon - just something to go along with the update!

No Fishing, Man

Thought I'd updated this AGES, but apparently not (not used to these production pages/blogs, need to step that up). Quick update just to say that, unfortunately, this project won't be followed into 4th Year. As much as I enjoy it, there are too many wee revisions needed to be done, and with the size of this and one of my other projects (The Royal) it didn't seem feasible to get both completed, and to a high standard. Especially as this would be a personal project, not a group (maybe the odd helping-hand), whereas The Royal is a joint effort. However, I will more than likely be picking this up (in some shape or form) before long. It's a project I enjoy immensely, so if anyone's sad they won't see more, it's a matter of 'when' not 'if'. "The Deeper the Blues, The More I see Black"

Just to keep this fresh, here's some music I feel fits the tone of the project. In an ideal world, something like this would be the soundtrack. I often like listening to music I feel suits what I'm working on while I draw to get into each project - especially while working on various one simultaneously. It helps to keep the tones from shifting. And gives a good wee something for you guys and girls to listen to.

Full-body, full-colour turnarounds of Ben - in both his regular clothes (which would be seen at the start of the animation) and his fishing/diving gear.

Ben's White Whale is a Blue Fish

Turnaround/design drawings for the fish - which I spontaneously named 'Jonah'. A mix of prehistoric fish, large sharks and Piranha. Wee bit of angler fish too, I suppose. There's a silhouette of Ben for scale. Decided I needed the fish to be colours that help him blend in until he's right at the screen - but lamp-like, dead eyes, and teeth that are visible first.
